Partnerships
Partnerships within and outside the school are an important aspect of the Active School Flag. When a school participates in the Active School Flag Programme it is vital to interact and engage with other organisations and clubs. Within Kilmacthomas Primary School we established an ASF committee at the outset of the process and children who were interested in joining were elected. The committee members keep all classes up to date on ASF news and events. Our school also has an ASF notice board which keeps everyone updated in terms of activities happening in the school. Kilmacthomas Primary School acknowledges physical activity and sporting success achieved during and outside of school hours and we inform pupils and parents about physical activity opportunities that are available in the local community. Our school invites different sports clubs/physical activity providers from the local community to visit our school during the year, to give taster sessions of their activity. So far, some activities that we are trying out are Gaelic football with John, Tennis with Shelly from Dungarvan Tennis Club, Skipping with John, Zumba with Rachel and Rugby with Francie, Waterford City rugby coach, Jack, Community Officer, Munster Rugby and Brian from Waterford Sport's Partnership. |
