We use Jolly Phonics to learn our letters. There is a song and an action to go with each letter. The action will be written into our 'Sounds Copy'.
Do you see the red door? It is our magic door. When we begin a new letter, the magic door changes to reveal what it is. :)
To encourage letter sounds, here are a few things you could do with your child:
1. Play 'I spy'
2. Use a bag/box and put 4 or 5 things into it beginning with the new letter in the sound book. Get your child to take them out and name what they are. All these things begin with the letter ______.
3. While you are reading a book, get your child to point to the letter ___ anywhere they can see it.
4. In picture books, ask the children what different things in the picture are. Emphasize the first letter in each word and ask them what sound they can hear.
5. Encourage them to practise writing the letter as much as they can.
