Water Safety:This time of the year it is important to remember how to be safe around water. www.teachpaws.ie has a lesson book to remind us how to be safe not only at the beach but when near water in all aspects of our lives. It also has quizzes and puzzles to reinforce the lessons learned.
Set up some cones (bottles, items of clothes) in a line. Bounce your tennis ball while going in and out of the cones.
Tuesday 16th June 2020
The theme to focus on this week is The Seashore. If possible, it would be great to visit a nearby beach and make some observations. Name your chosen beach. What animals are on the beach? What plants are on the beach? What are the non living things on the beach? Do you know what Bladder Wrack looks like? Draw it. Draw the story of your family visit to the beach.
Get a bucket and a ball/pegs. Let’s practise throwing them into the bucket. See how many you can get in then take a step back as you improve.

Friday 19th June 2020
• Read “Who Sank The Boat “ by Pamela Allen as a stimulus for this topic . CLICK HERE
• Predict who sank the boat. • Get your child to tell you the order in which the animals got on the boat. • What happened as each animal got on and who sank the boat. • Brainstorm what it means to sink or float . A boat is very heavy but hollow ,so it is not dense and can float . a marble is small and dense so it sinks . • Looking at different items at home, have your child tell you the items they think will float/sink • Now have fun and try it out .
